Some one who may not be related to this school - say a neighbor may contribute the information about the present status of the school besides the medium of education - especially after the switch over to democracy. I am Dhanasekaran born in 1951 Studied in 6th std at BET School(1963-64, Thomson Street,left Yangon in 1965 for Chennai - now retired from Indian Government service Revenue dept as Superintendent.

Well, i graduated from UCH in 1958 and proceeded to study at RU. I was at UCH from 3rd.standard till matriculation. What a school for disciplined and push for English language for advancement. I hate Christian scriptures tho not bcuz am Buddhist but it was forced into us..typical Baptist doctrine. Nevertheless, am grateful to my old school for my success in my life...miss my old pals tho..most of them must have passed away....hmmm

The Burmese name for this mosque is Ta-Chan Bet Pali (t in Bet sounds between d and t) which means partially cracked mosque. It was also known as B.A. Ground Mosque in the bygone years of 50's thru 70's. It is located at Upper Pansodan Street. It serves as Burma's main and largest tableeg markaz (religious awareness and propagation center). Opposite or diagonally across from the mosque is a church, most probably St Anthony's Church and a Buddhist monastery. Short walking distance from the mosque to the south is Rangoon Central Railway Station, to the northeast are Parsi, Muslim and other cemeteries. A little further from the cemeteries is Beluma or Theinbyu Zey, fresh produce market. The surrounding neighborhoods, upto the 70's, had many classic type of bungalows and used to be very peaceful, quiet, few traffic and green.
